BLOGTOUR STOP: CURSED WITH POWER BY LINDSEY SABLOWSKI. INTERVIEW/EXCERPT!

Let me tell you a little about this girl here, Lindsey Sablowski. I have known her since the old Inkpop days! Gosh, that seems so long ago now. However, in the past months I have been strongly supporting and being entirely excited for her. Her lovely, amazing book CURSED WITH POWER will be making it to book shelves and reading devices! Thanks to Old Line Publishing. She has had one heck of a journey with CwP, and now she is accomplishing the publishing world on September 7th! YES! Just a few days from now!

So in honor of the upcoming release. Lindsey has done ME the HONOR of stopping by on my little blog here. She’s going to answer a few questions and give us a excerpt from her book CwP.

INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR

1. I heard that it was a long journey in getting CwP published. On the scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the hardest and 1 for the lowest), how hard was it on you, and how much emotional turmoil did you suffer? Can you elaborate on the times?

Lindsey: Definitely a 10. It took me two years to find a publisher for CWP, and even now though it’s published, I know the difficulties won’t end. I’m not sure how many people know this, but before CWP I had tried publishing my first book, “The Magic of Light.” I spent four years trying to publish that before eventually I came to terms with the rejection letters were piling up and I needed to try something new. During the two years I worked getting Cursed with Power published it was extremely difficult. Many publishers look down on new authors because they view us as “inexperienced,” and I was especially worried about the fact that I’m a teenager. There were times when I would stop writing –one time I stopped for several months—but I always returned to my work no matter the rejections because I felt closer to this story than anything I’ve ever written before. I wanted to share Celestria’s world, and in the end I’m so grateful that it worked out.
2. What is your favorite writing tip for beginner writers? Something that you perhaps wish that someone advised you for when you were a beginner?
Lindsey: I wish someone would have stressed the importance of editing to me. I think it’s something that is often times forgotten or misleading… I mean you know you’re supposed to edit your book, but no one really ever stresses just how important it is. It honestly makes all the difference; the more polished of a story you have, the better chances you have of making it. And I know that seems like a rule of thumb that everybody should already know, but it’s hard to know how much to edit when you’re bias toward your own work.
 3. What is your all time moment of this whole journey of getting published?
Lindsey: Hmm… that’s a tricky question. I’d have to say my favorite moment was actually writing the book. Now two years ago I might not have admitted that, but now when I look back on it I’m so glad I did everything that I did. When I’d finishing writing a chapter I’d upload it on inkpop (when it used to be around), and I remember smiling at people’s comments when they would read something shocking. The fanbase has been amazing through all of this.
4. Okay, now a story based question: who is your favorite supporting character in your book?
Lindsey: Without a doubt, it’s Alaire. (Don’t tell Leal that!) He originally wasn’t in the first version of the book, so his presence is extremely significant to the characters as well as me. Whenever I had my doubts, I felt like Alaire’s voice in my head could keep me going. Plus… He’s a handsome guy and has a way with his words, so what’s not to love?
 5. Can you tell us which chapter you look forward for people to read? You don’t have to elaborate on what goes on. Just the chapter number and such.
Lindsey: So I actually have two that I’m tied between: chapters nineteen and twenty two. I won’t give away what happens, but I’ll just say they’re very shocking chapters. Something that happens in there wasn’t originally planned out to happen, so it was even a bit surprising for me. I’m hoping readers will really enjoy it!
 6. What chapter do you think that will hook your readers? And if you want to add in a non-spoiler like manner, how will it be so?
Lindsey: I suppose it depends on the reader, but personally I think chapter fourteen is definitely something that will be enjoyable and keep the readers interested. (That’s not to say the chapters before then are boring) There’s more depth about both Celestria and Alaire, and it really starts to reflect on the people they are and the ones they want to become. I found it very interesting to write, and I kept my reader’s interests at heart.
 7. That is your advice to the future writers out there, that are struggling and suffering confidence issues about their work? Can you tell us what really drove and inspired you to approach the publishing industry? What gave you that right push to keep on and succeed?
Lindsey: My first advice is always to read –read everything and anything you can get your hands on. Honestly reading books about fantasy and historical fiction gave me the passion I needed to do the work that I do now. I suppose that’s what really drove me; I loved reading stories about magic and so forth, and I wanted to create my own that I could share with the world. As for what kept me going through the tough years… I think that I really owe to the fanbase. I know a lot of authors don’t like sharing their work online, but I’m glad that I did. There are amazing writers and readers out there who read other people’s work and seriously care for it, and its people like that who kept me going when times got rough. Every time I’d get a rejection letter I’d go back to the comments page online (whether it was wattpad or inkpop) and read something positive. It was readers -ordinary people like you and me- that kept me going.
She’s such a sweetie and inspiration isn’t she?!

Now, for the excerpt that Lindsey has so kindly handed over to me to share!  I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS BOOK!

Doesn’t this sound INTERESTING!?

Here’s is information on CURSED WITH POWER.

First Day of Second Year in College!

I just attended my first day in my English class, and I liked it. My Professor is actually a published author of fifty books. His name is Robert Walker. I like the sound of the class and have a feeling that I’ll have a good time.

My other classes…not so much. MAT065 (ew, math), CIT, and CHEM…yeah…I’m not liking these just yet.

In other news, I got DEADLY DECEIVED in print, from NaNoWriMo, and sent two to my online besties Hannah and Mariella. I’m hard at work in working up a rewrite as we speak.

Also, I have another project named “SYSTEM TAKEOVER”. It’s a Terminator meet Tron type deal plot. Where a software and mechanic teenaged genies Sisaleen (I love the name) aka Sissy is taken captive in this futuristic world, where computer intelligent android bots have taken over, and human kind is on the brink of extinction. Sissy is rescued by a android bot named Ghost, who weirdly has a conscious. 0_o She ends up falling for him, more as she discovers he acts more human than humans do anymore. These two don’t just have their feelings in common, they have a goal in mind too. To take down SYSTEM CORE the root of all evil. But when Sissy does, Ghost goes along with the evil Systems. Sad smile *cries* It’s going to be an emotional ride with this one.

Oh, and Wishbooks is coming along nicely too! But I’m gonna keep a extra tight lip on it, because it’s my baby.

Well, gotta go!

With lot and God Bless

NEW URL = NEW BUTTON and RE-CENTERING

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Feel free to grab the button!

The reason behind my changing my URL, for one, well xokristeeauhox is pretty hard to remember and no one understands what it means. (it's the pronouncation of Kristia BTW), and for two, I want to display the bible scripture that I base all my work on, which is "Everyone should use whatever gift he has received to serve other, faithfully adminstering God's grace in various forms."- 1 Peter 4:10. I feel that I have cheated that verse, ever since I have professed it being my writing center. So I am re-centering myself on it again! I'm faithfully adminstering my imagination for God! Thus, Faithful Imagination is born! And for three, is just sounds snazzy doesn't it? :)

Changes are coming soon! For those who actually read my blog. :)

Don't worry, for those who aren't Christians like me, I'm not going to blast my religion in your face more. But be prepared to see 1 Peter 4:10 and more God Blesses though. It's my faith and I am staying faithful to it and dedicating my success and my imagination to God, Who I pray to for these things.

Well, I am off!

With lots of love, Kristia S.
God Bless

Random Writing Prompt

Okay, guys, I'm going to start doing random writing prompts to get the creativitiness started up in here!
I'm addressing creativewritingprompts.com to help me for the first time, I'll start doing my own after a few.

Here we go!

Close your eyes briefly. Think of
one object that’s in the room
and focus on it. Without opening
your eyes, recall as much detail
as you can about it. After 3
minutes or so, open your eyes
and write about that object
without looking at it.

When Souls Turn Into Demons...DEADLY Prompt

I have been blog prompt by Mariella. So she requested me to talk about the roots of my NaNoWriMo DEADLY DECEIVED. I'm not good at prompts, so this is a attempt at one.

The subject that is in my book I can prompt on the roots are: Souls vs. Demons.

In my NaNo, there's this ghost Denise Johnson, is faced with demons. So goes for my other character Amy, who is attacked at one point, by a fear demon. (I'm currently rewriting this scene right now.) The fear demon that attacks Amy can inhabit the soul and feed on the fear, only if, the person acknowledges their exsistence and comes in contact with them. Amy did touch one in her room, thus, causing an opening in her soul for it to enter and feed on her fear. It will slowly kill her, because fear is energy, and that energy comes from her soul.
Anyways, how demons came to be, in my books's world.
For one, they were lost souls.
For two, they attached themselves to a sensitive alive person who can help them gain peace.
For three, that sensitive doesn't want to help, so they start to ignore them, thus, causing the soul to fade away into Limbo. (the in between life and death)
For four, then they become lonely and enraged for a long time and is consumed by darkness.

That is how a demon comes to be in my book.

Well, I'm off to edit and squeal about the Mortal Instruments movie news!

With lots of love, Kristia S.

God Bless!!

I'm better/ So much better now/ Look to the light touch the light/ We're together now/

I love this song so much. I'm soundtracking it to my Wishbooks series and even my 2012 NaNoWriMo "Marrying Miss Addison". I just LOVE how music can inspire the written works, and itself is even a written work, but put into music work after it's been written. That concept is just so amazing to me.

Wanna see my puppy that I thought was going to die a few months back? The one I asked prayers for? The one that I thought he'd lose his eye?

Well...here he is! My MoMo (Moses LOL) LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL HE IS!

Long time no blog. Oi' the funs of not blogging.

Okay, ya'll, I haven't blogged in God knows how long. For that I am deeply sorry, for those who actually read my blog and find out about my random escapades. :P

Okay, first things first, I finally wrote the rest of my NaNoWriMo DEADLY DECEIVED and I am now editing it so I can get my proofs by the end of next month. I have a very satisfying ending that I never knew that it was going to have. I seriously, didn't know how I was going to end it until it actually came. o_0 It's pretty good! If I say so myself!

Secondly, I have been UBER busy with my first year of college. I got all As in my first semester, and for this past one three As and one B. >_< I SO didn't want a B, I rather have all As why thank you very much. I thought I was doing JUST FINE in Humanities, a As worth of FINE, but I guess I didn't. *shrugs* So I have a 3.8 GPA! And I AM PROUD TO SAY IT LOUD!

Thirdly, I have been stepping up in my church's youth group, in doing some chaperoning (the one time anyways) and some lessons. :) I've done one and absolutely LOVED IT! I used Psychology on their butts and they fell for it! :P Just look up the Ache Experiment and imagine using Bible trivial instead of the stimulus lines. :) My lesson is in two parts. The first one was on Conformity and how it plays out in society and in teen's lives. The second part I will be doing next Wednesday will be on the Consequences of Conformity, Dirtying God's Temple, and Obedience. It involves some games to keep them engaged. :) Can't wait!

Fourthly, I turned TWENTY last week. 0_o I'm not happy about being OLD! LOL

Fifthly, I have been working on MANY NEW writing projects. :) One is my potential NaNoWriMo for this year. :) It'll either be called "A Careful Decision" or "Marrying Miss Addison". It's about a girl who's a high school senior and she has money troubles and becomes a Nanny for a rich man named James Leyland's kids Mary and Brennan. He eventually asks her to marry him so he can speed up the adoption process for her in adopting his kids. Because he's dying soon. </3 And in the process of it all, she ends up falling for his eldest son, who she used to go to school with named Wesley. He thinks he HATES her and thinks she's a gold digger though. >_< He's a tad bit of a jerk.

My other project, which are turning into my pride and joy! Is the Wishbooks of Distoria trilogy. It's a three part series about this girl named Emma Carsons and Ace Brinks. They have these books that grants wishes and the whole world of Distoria is after them. Emma and Ace's souls are pretty much pure enough to hold them and only them to make correct selfless wishes. Selfish wishes ends up being a curse and catastrophes happen afterwards. But do evil people listen? NOPE. Especially, emperor Distane doesn't listen. :) Of course, Emma ends up falling for Ace, who has questionable actions in certain situations. Also, she has to learn how to forgive and to trust all over again because of Ace. 0_o I mean LITERALLY learn how to forgive and trust, like it doesn't exist anymore after a certain thing. (nothing too bad) I blogged about this book a bit back. :) I'm so proud of it. It's a potential series I'll query in the next year or so. Time with Seleste is still my pride and joys though. But their plots still need to be worked on and written. I want them JUST RIGHT and figured out so well.
Sixthly, ahhh, I don't know. LOL But I'm getting back into blogging! :D I have A LOT of books top review that I have read lately. 0_o They're piling up! Especially, when I just got a Nook and I am FLYING though the books like CRAZY!

Well, I'm off!

With love, Kristia S.
AND GOD BLESS!

NEW BOOK IDEA: Wishbooks of Distoria

I've done it again! I had a dream/nightmare and got another book idea! I don't know where it's all going to go, espeically, when I'm outlining it right now. I like, I really, really like it. It's something childlike, which makes me excited to be able to read it to my little nephews, but also it's already got really LOUD characters. By my meaning LOUD is that they are blasting their words and personality in my head before I even write. They wanted written and their story told! Ace--GOOD LORD MAN, he's the loudest, smart mouthed, taunting, and well kind of annoying, but he has a sweet side that barely anyone sees. You would have to be pretty special or loud, smart mouthed, and taunting like he, before he's impressed and likes you. Emma meets all of those standards with him. It's pretty funny BTW. Emma is quiet but her thoughts are loud enough for me to form a personality for her. Ace and Emma are pretty complex in their ways. And the plot...it'ssss different. Something I'm fidgety over, because it's out of my comfort zone just a bit. It's a borderline of children's fiction and YA, which is surprising.
Oh, by the way it sounds, it sounds like a dystopian, but it isn't. I have a out of this world twist to it that makes it even more unique.

I'm so proud of this book cover!
Makes me wonder what I could really do with
Photoshop if I had it.
The Islands of Distoria, a kingdom of a hundred islands, the remaining lands of the old world, before the great polar flood. Lives a girl, Ethel Carson or Emma as she desires to be addressed as, who does not have much to say, but she has a lot to dream.
She has a love for books. When she discovers a new read titled “The Wishbook of Distoria”, one of the six volumes. Then her life is thrown into disarray.
Upon an invite to the circus, she gets into some trouble and is in need of a friend. That’s when Ace Brinks and his nurse sister Alice come in.
Soldiers come to retrieve an artifact, this inflicts fear amongst citizens. Even the circus is leaving early. Amidst chaos Emma flees from the soldiers herself, because the desired artifact is the Wishbook. Emma knows that the book grants wishes, because it granted one, for the absence of poverty.
Emma chooses to run away with the Brinks family and their friends.
She goes on a voyage to find the other volumes before Emperor Distane.
This is a story of love, betrayal, secrets, truth, and souls of Distoria, especially the soul of Emma.

Here's a song I am in love with, that I am soundtracking WOD with. :D

With love, God Bless, and I love you! <3

Here are the rules:

  • Go to page 7 or 77 in your current manuscript
  • Go to line 7
  • Copy down the next 7 lines/sentences AS THEY ARE. No cheating!
  • Tag 7 other authors (make sure to let them know they've been tagged!)

I've been tagged by Riv Re!

Okay, I'm going to qoute from my nanowrimo "Deadly Deceived" page 77.

"Denise?" a very weak, husky sounding voice asks. "Denise, baby, is that you?" Amy can distinctly hear his voice cracking and his heart monitor beeping faster. "Oh God, if you have sent my daughter to escort me to the edge of hell, let it be. I want to see her face one more time."

Marlie gasps a sob in her throat. "Go." She whispers. "He thinks you're Denise. Let him think it, give him a somewhat peace before he goes."
Amy nods, but for some reason she doesn't think Harold thinks Amy's Denise.

I tag

I've been TAGGED!

First, I must post the rules:

1. Post these rules.

2. Post a photo of yourself and 11 random things.

3. Answer the questions set for you in the original post.

4. Create 11 new questions and tag people to answer them.

5. Go to their blog/twitter and tell them you’ve tagged them.

Here I go.

Me and my baby boy chihuahua MoMo, who I thought would
go blind, lose his eye, or have to be put down,
because of an eye infection caused by his litter mates or him, I'm not for sure which.
But now he's healthy and beautiful!

Now for the eleven random things.

1.      I’m socially awkward, I constantly find myself in an awkward spot when I come to talking to a person. I may seem dumb, but it’s my social awkwardness blocking my smartness (well, average smarts lol) I guess you can say it’s shyness in a sort of way. It’s a nightmare/impossible when it comes to talking to guys. Gr. >_<

2.      I really have no desire to date right now. I don’t like being tied down by a relationship with a guy when I’m in school and growing in my relationship with God. Some people think I’m lesbian where I don’t date much. Well, guess what? I’m totally, unconditionally NOT a lesbian. Honestly, if I was I would have already told, like for real. I hate keeping secrets because it feels like a burden on my shoulders, and I don’t like being weighed down by something, I like being free!

3.      I LOVE videography.

4.      I LOVE walking and talking with my walking partner. My best conversations have happened when I was walking.

5.      I have a confliction with wanting to dye my hair back to my natural hair color which is dark brown. But then again I love my blonde locks. Gr. >_<

6.      I LOVE College and all of its work. I like how it keeps me busy. And I LOVE learning new things.

7.      I’m a total romance fanatic, a book or movie always has to have a romance touch to it before I absolutely love it!

 8. I haven’t read the Hunger Games, but I already love it by what I have heard of it.

 9. I’m a TOTAL Skillet FAN! LIKE CRAZY FAN!

 10. I go around all day dreaming up music videos and books.

 11. My newest obsession is “Howl’s Moving Castle” Disney anime movie, because I love the relationship between Howl and Sophie. It’s just TOO CUTE!

And here are the eleven questions.

1.      You go back in time. Where do you go?

I wouldn’t really want to change anything of my past, because my past is what defines me today. But if I would go anywhere back in time it would be… to meet Billy the Kid, because I think he wasn’t the bad guy everyone thought he was, and I would like to find some way to prove it. I think the guy that killed him Sheriff Garrett was the crook, he shot him in the dark for crying out loud!

2.      Would you change your name? To what?

Not really, I love my name. But I may rename myself my middle name first, and that is Danielle.

3.      Have you ever wanted to change how someone else’s life was headed?

Yes, there’s plenty I can think of right now.

4.      Favorite store to shop at?

Wally-World (Wal-Mart)

5.      Favorite memory as a teenager?

Being saved by Jesus <3

6.      Describe me in three words :)

Sweet, kind, and a beautiful soul, Mariella.

7.      You close your eyes and imagine your future. What do you see in 5 years?

In a classroom filled with preschoolers, playing and learning, and I am laughing and falling in love with the kids more and more every day. J

8.      Name 5 songs I have to listen to.

“Hero” by Skillet. “For Those Who Wait” by Fireflight. “Cross the Line” by Superchick. “Please Don’t Let Me Go” by Group 1 Crew. “Outcast” by Kerrie Roberts.

9.      Name 5 places I have to visit.

West Virginia. Mount Vernon Ohio. Carter Caves Kentucky. New York City. Anywhere we can go to hang out and be crazy. J

10.  Name 5 foods we should bring on a pilgrimage to Poland. (Pickles, Nutella, MNMs and bacon aside.) A pilgrimage is where we go to a given place on foot to visit, for example, a cathedral.

Junk food? LOL I don’t know.

 11. Name 5 crazy things to do on the pilgrimage.

Plank in a very awkward and unpredictable spot. LOL The rest I have no idea.

My eleven questions, which are very unoriginal and very not creative whatsoever.

1.      Favorite song?

2.      Favorite computer program?

3.      Favorite blog?

4.      Favorite website?

5.      Your favored hobby?

6.      Fond memory?

7.      Your favorite character of all time that’s either yours or someone else’s, that you would like to be for a day, and explain what you would do for that day. J

8.      A celebrity you would marry in a heartbeat. J

9.      Favorite flower?

10.  Favorite thing to do?

11.  Favorite restaurant?

Okay. Help us plan the epicness. I tag Mariella and Hannah. <3

Go. :)

A Baby Worshipping God. So Cute and Heart Warming!

Why can't we all be like this child? Worship God with so much emotion and passion and innocence?
Our faith needs to be childlike! I never understood that until I watched this video. It brought tears to my eyes when I first watched it!

With love, GOD BLESS!

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST. About a puppy of mine.

Please pray for a chihuahua puppy of mine. His eye is infected and possibly has an ulcer in it. It looks absolutely AWFUL. Its been having eye trouble. I’m used to this sort of thing and its pretty common and treatable with chihuahuas. It’s not the first time of this happening with my dogs, and I’ve cured them before by using antiboitics. But it’s different this time. I think it has progressed too much for me to treat it anymore. It may lose his eye. I hate that…

We’re taking him to the vet tomorrow. :/

PLEASE PRAY FOR MY PUPPY!
